Deceptively playful, Snake is a film about stubbornness in the face of change. The film chronicles a failure to deal with growing up while using its extremely appealing characters and sounds to glorify the obdurate attempt to replace what is lost.
With the look as if being drawn by a grey lead pencil, the subtle stick image of a snake slithers across the page chomping on treats hanging from trees. One of the highlights of 'Snake' is how clear and childlike its noises are. The snake sighs, gulps, slithers and pants to great effect as these are the only sounds the viewer hears. However the naive protagonist runs into some teeth thieves which makes the daily act of chomping rather troublesome.
Snake won the audience award at New York's animation Block Party and other films by director Becky James include 'Bat and Hat' and 'Crazy Rock.'
