Synopsis
Three childhood friends Poh Sin, Victor and Felix, grow up in the shadow of a major Malaysian crime overlord, Thomas Li.
Li's wealth comes from human trafficking which Victor manages for him. There's fierce between Malaysian and Hong Kong trades to move people from China to Europe and sure enough gang war erupts following a particularly vicious relationship with Poh Sin.
To complicate matters a girl is stranded and killed in Germany when Victor and Poh Sin are there to deliver Chinese labor.
When they return to Malaysia and another girl disappears, the evidence points to Victor.
With leads from Germany, Gilbert and some illegal immigrants caught by Victor's nemesis Inspector Ravi, the police interrogate Victor over the dead and missing girls. New evidence from Germany suggests there's more to these crimes than just Victor.
Emperor, the first full feature debut of Juliane Block and Adrian Lai, is a taut thriller that explores inter-personal relationships within an Asian crime family revealing in the process who's really using who.

Great movie! Tension
until the end, lots of
turning points. You
always try to find out
who is the really bad
guy, which is not so
easy. Because all the
characters are drawn very
subtle. This movie goes
deeper than the classical
crime and murder stuff.
Therefore even hundred
per cent watchable for
no-fans of this kind of
movies!

Characters are
interesting, actors well
cast. Story is a bit
complex but worth the

impressed, not because
i'm seeing friends in the
movie but because it had
a good storyline and
film-making was up to
standards! my mates asked
if it was a malaysian
movie and when i said
yes, they said: Wow, it's
different than most
malaysian movies then!i'm
proud of you guys! :D

i think the
language/accents/names
betray the middle-class
backgrounds of the cast -
but it's a very
commendable international
effort with quite a few
advantages.
